i was wondering what everyones thoughts are regarding lyrics to "curtain call"
ebony beauty pass this shade the looking glass relects then a voice calls me back, "this is just circumstance it is not personal", oh no it never is. then you ram your hand in your bag for a little friendly substance
By the time you're 25 they will say, "you've gone and blown it". By the time you're 35, I must confide, you will have blown them all Right on cue just act surprised when they invite you to take your curtain call you climbed China's wall your curtain call
I have done what I've done and it has the ultimate consequence then a voice calls me back, "this is not business, no, its more like spiritual" is that what it is Then you ram your hand in your bag for a little protection
By the time you're 25 they will say, "you've gona and blown it." By the time you're 35, I must confide, you will have blown them all Right on cue just act surprised when they invite you to take your curtain call you climbed China's wall your curtain call
ebony beauty pass this shade the looking glass reflects
**specifically the lines about ramming her hand in her bag for substance/protection. the song i feel, is about a woman growing out of her "looks" and starting to rely on her wisdom and knowledge to survive. i may be off, wondering what others think, its seems like very loaded verses.

Kip's four-yeariversary present to me was an iphone (way to make the De La Vega shirts I picked out for Kip - with help from De La Vega himself - look lame there). We hit up the Apple Store in Soho last night and are already addicted to playing with the dumb things. After activating our phones, we went to dinner at Noho Star and barely noticed when our food came.
I will miss my three-year-old Sprint flip phone a little, but my three-year-old Sprint flip phone didn't have a nifty thingy where you hit a button and select a type of food and it tells you where the nearest one is to where you are standing right that second. My three-year-old Sprint flip phone also didn't get a signal for shit in my office, whereas the iphone has four bars. Bottom line - I might have used that little flip phone until it died, or stayed with Sprint forever and gotten an Instinct or something, if left to my own devices, but maybe it was good to get outside of my comfort zone.
I did port over all of the numbers I had in my phone last night, so chances are if we have spoken or texted since 2007, I have your number in there already. But if you have changed your number in the past 3 years, we have not spoken or texted in recent memory (and you think we should), you just want to make sure I definitely have your correct number, or you otherwise believe I should probably have your number, fill out the below poll. (If you're not a LiveJournal member, you can also email me this information.)
Poll #1431051
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: NoneFull real name and phone number if you please. Nobody but me will see it.
(A note: do YOU know MY real name? Do YOU have MY number? Are YOU comfortable with me knowing YOUR legal name? Can you envision any scenario at all in which you'd like to speak to me or send me a text message? If the answer to 50% or more of these questions is "no," then I am not at all offended by not having your number. It's cool. Really.)
Be forewarned, kids, the next time I see you I will be taking your picture so that it comes up if you call me. Not that I actually talk on the phone much with anybody. According to my Sprint plan, I used a grand whopping 45 minutes since July 1. 35 of those were talking to my mother, 7 of those were confirming doctor's appointments or calling in prescriptions, and 3 of those were triangulating with Kip. Between unlimited night/weekends and mobile-to-mobile, I had 300 daytime minutes in my plan and used 6. I'm well aware that my new iphone is not a phone as much as it is a really cool toy.
Also, for those of you who have also drunk the iphone kool-aid, are there any apps you have found indispensable? Anything iphone does that is awesome that I may not have discovered in the past 16 hours?
(I was kind of tempted to make a LiveJournal icon that's just a cropped image of the Jonestown kool-aid vat and use that when talking about my iphone. That would be really wrong, though, wouldn't it?)

[16 Jul 2009|12:34pm] |
Thursday as usual equals reading Eye Magazine on the TTC instead of my usual top 100 novels or something for my course
I'm also taking a Studio Management course there, but it's all about becoming self-aware of your talents and SWOTS and whatnot... and if you've been following my book lists, that's pretty much what i read usually, pop-psychology, newagey self-help and buddhism texts... maybe one day i'll finally be conscious...
On a modified version of the Master Cleanse again, so i'm spending my nights weak and listless cooddling with the gf and falling asleep at like 9 pm. This is a change from my usual 2 am. This whole cleanse makes me "less" conscious initially, but there's that moment of clarity you have right before your done and heading back into an Acme burger... delicious

Well, okay. We have a three-way tie for First Place. This challenge is a little behind, so rather than trying to break this tie, we are just going to award three First Place winners. I do not have the banners right now, but I will post them soon (within the next couple of days), so look out for those.
Congratulations to the winners!!

| LOOK AT THIS GUY |
[15 Jul 2009|07:59pm] |
Look at this fucking guy. Yeah, ladies. You know you love the left-handed Hofner bass action. You'd best recognize that's Paul McFuckingCartney, people, performing some motherfucking hit songs on top of David Letterman's marquee. This fucking musician is so badass you can't hear him over the sound of multitudes proclaiming his awesomeness. Women scream and faint at the sight of him.
And I fucking saw the shit out of him this afternoon. That's right.
